DIGITAL WORKSHOPS / SESSIONS 2020-2021

From the beginning of the school year 2020, Grandir Sans Frontières will offer 3 sessions of workshops for the school year 2020-2021: One fall session, one winter session and one spring session.

7-8 YEARS

Fall: Learn the basics of Scratch!

Scratch: The courses are designed to provide the mathematical, logical and artistic background necessary to understand Scratch. Concepts such as the Cartesian plane, variable, gravity, velocity, loop, drawing and conditions are discussed and practiced during the exercises and workshops, and when creating a personal project during the final workshops.  The programming concepts taught have as an example functions seen in video games.

Winter: Tinkercad Minecraft

Tinkercad: The courses are designed to allow young people to become familiar with the manipulation of a 3D environment and the creation of virtual objects. Concepts such as assembly, material subtraction, camera views and symmetries are discussed and practiced during the exercises and workshops, and during the creation of a personal project during the final workshops. Spring: LEGO WeDo

Film creation: The objective of the course is to introduce young people to robotics, video and simple animation. Participants will develop their creative eye while learning about these new mediums and the technologies that will serve as tools.

9-11 YEARS

Autumn: Discover Scratch with Pacman

Spring: LEGO Spike

Robotics and Film Creation: The participant will be asked to build and program a robot, and manipulate a camera (SLR or tablet) and editing software. They will be introduced to the principles of physics and logic related to robotics and to the importance of light, preparation, storyboarding and video techniques.

12-17 YEARS

Fall: Program with Unity

Unity: The courses are designed to allow young people to familiarize themselves with a 3D development environment as well as programming in Visual Studio. Concepts such as scripts, functions, variables, camera and particles are discussed and practiced during the exercises and workshops, and when creating a personal project during the final workshops.

Winter: Blender magical creatures

Blender : The courses are designed to allow young people to become familiar with the manipulation of a 3D environment and the creation of virtual objects. We want to ensure that all the young people who have had access to our training courses become autonomous and can then create their own models in order to bring their projects, creations and dreams to life. Spring: LEGO Mindstorm

Robotics with Mindstorm: Classes are designed to allow young people to learn how to program a robot to solve navigation and environmental manipulation problems. Engineering concepts such as distance and gear ratio calculations are covered and practiced during the exercises and workshops, and in a friendly competition during the final workshops.
